Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of housing will be offered?
A: We secure apartments together in a complex for our employees to live in. They have historically all been newer, clean apartments, with amenities such as swimming pools, exercise rooms, laundry facilities, and more. Our philosophy is to offer great accommodations for great employees!
Q: How do I get to my new summer "home"?
A: As the summer approaches, we will have meetings to get each team together to meet their new manager, and fellow teammates. At this time, a plan will be made on who will caravan/carpool with whom.
Q: Do I have to have a vehicle for the summer?
A: No, you don't have to have a vehicle, alhough having one will make your life much more pleasant. Without a vehicle you will always depending on someone else for a ride everywhere you need to go. During the summer you will be assigned areas, and you will constantly be depending on a person to drop you off and pick you up each day. If you are coming out with a friend that doesn't mind the responsibility that might work, but having transportation is highly recommended.
Q: What do you guarantee that I'll make for the summer?
A: This job is not meant for someone looking to lean on a guarantee, but to help ease the fear of something new, we have designed the following package. First, your housing is paid for during the summer. Second, each month you are employed with us, you will receive a minimum of $1,000.00 per month, paid twice a month at $500 per paycheck.
Q: How much money can I really expect to make during the summer?
A: The least amount of money ever made by someone working the entire summer is about $8,000.00. Realistically, our average sales reps usually target between $12,000 and $15,000, with the more talented people ranging between $20,000 and $30,000. It will depend on your individual work ethic more than anything else.
Q: Can I request where I work for the summer?
A: Yes, we accommodate as many people as possible. Requests will be granted on a first come first serve basis.
Q: Is it possible for a group of friends to work in the same area?
A: As long as there is room in a given area, you will be allowed to work together. That includes housing arrangements as well.
Q: What if I don't have any previous sales experience?
A: We have a very effective training program that can help teach people how to talk to people. This program includes pre-season training, recommended reading, as well as a continual training program throughout the summer.
Q: Does this program requiring going "door-to-door"?
A: Yes, but not in the usual sense. We are approaching people to invite them to save money on a service that they already have. The service that we represent is literally the best in each market, and our price will be significantly cheaper than what they are currently paying. In a depressed economy, people are looking to save money, not spend it.
Q: What type of response is seen from the people we speak to?
A: Once people realize that you are not asking them to spend money they are usually very open to hearing what you have to say. Our training will teach how to sell without coming across as a salesperson.
Q: What type of training program do you have to teach us how to be successful?
A: There will be basic training meetings before you leave for the summer. Then, once during the summer you will have daily meetings, longer at first, shorter as the summer progresses. A manager will spend time one-on-one with everyone in the beginning, working with those who ask for help as much as is needed. There will also be experienced team members that can share personal insights about their own success. There will also be a Regional trainer that will help out each area as needed. Anyone with the desire to be successful will be given the knowledge to be successful.
Q: Why choose to work for AMI vs. other summer marketing programs?
A: Our program is designed to overcome the skeptics.
- FREE, no quota, premium housing.
- Guaranteed salary all summer.
- In depth training program to give anyone with a good work ethic the opportunity to succeed.
Q: How much more will I make compared to staying home for the summer and finding a summer job?
A: If you find a $10 hr summer job, and work all summer long, you would have grossed $6400, and taken home after taxes only $4800. Compare this to the lower amounts we have ever paid out...$8000, of which you take home...$8000. The reality is that most people will make between $12,000 and $20,000, even as first year sales reps.
Q: What types of tax benefits does working away from home offer me?
A: Because you are working more than 50 miles away from your home, you are able to deduct almost all expenses you incur during the summer. This includes a mileage allowance, gas, entertainment, food, and most anything else that will cost you money. This helps eliminate a large portion of your tax burden.
